PORT MOODY - City of the Arts

PORT MOODY: Named after Colonel Richard Clement Moody and incorporated in 1913, Port Moody is known as "City of the Arts." With a population of approximately 33,500 (2021), the city occupies 25.89 square kilometers at the east end of Burrard Inlet. Originally slated to be the western terminus of the Canadian Pacific Railway, it was bypassed in favor of Vancouver.

Port Moody has transformed from an industrial port town to a vibrant arts community. The city features numerous arts venues, including the Port Moody Arts Centre and Station Museum. Rocky Point Park is a major attraction, and the city maintains significant environmental areas including the Shoreline Trail. Recent SkyTrain expansion has led to increased development around its two stations, though the city maintains strict development guidelines to preserve its character.
